How to
choose the right Martial arts school? Three Important keys to remember : 1. Does your goal match their training programs? Effective curriculum is suppose to keep you motivated and help you understand the concept easier. Most importantly, every and each training session/class must ensure that you get a good workout, gain more knowledge and have fun. Here at Virginia Shaolin Kungfu Center, we have excellent training programs that will make sure you leave with 3’S: Sweaty, Smarter, and Smiling 2. Is this the right martial art style for you? There are many kind of martial art styles. Even within Chinese martial arts, there are so many styles. In simple words, they are classified as 2 major branches, the Northern and Southern style. Let's take a look at the Wingchun style: Wingchun is a southern style. Most of the southern people of China have a small body structure, therefore, when they developed this style in the past, they came up with a simple system that works dealing with much larger opponents using the most direct and economical means possible with the least amount of force, time and space. Therefore, I would recommend Wingchun style for those who neither wants to rely on the physical strength nor wants to memorize 200 techniques against 200 types of attacks. 3. Is it a martial arts center or something else? A Martial arts center is a place to create knowledgeable & dedicated students, true martial artists. It is not just some social gathering club or the instructor’s shrine or even a day care center for children. The worst case would be a -black belt factory-. At Shaolin Kungfu Center, Our Chinese instructor has over 18 years of training experience in the Wingchun style. And our 4000 Sq Ft training facility is well equipped with training equipments, special training mats, multiple restrooms, dressing rooms, a water fountain, sport shop and cooling ventilation. 10/31/2005 Written by Admin |
